Hand Knotted Rugs are typically Persian designs, woven on a loom with a warp and weft usually made from cotton, sometimes wool and silk. Several rows of weft threads are woven to begin the rug, then each knot is tied across to create the pattern and the pile of the rug.
The pile is usually wool and sometimes woven with silk highlights. Hand Knotted Rugs can also be woven with a silk pile on a silk foundation. These rugs are extremely durable, some lasting 100 years or more.
